I cut my teeth with darkroom photography back in the 2000s and moved to digital in 2010 when I shot my first wedding professionally. Shooting 300-odd weddings over a decade taught me a lot about timing, and expression, and connecting with a subject. I took a 5-year break during Covid to pursue other loves, but now I’m back and refreshed and ready to make new photos with you.
What gets me excited about photography: stretching the limits of what light can do. Playing and experimentation. Trying new things. Seeing subjects in new ways. Colors that overlap. Shadows. Don’t be surprised if I ask you to stand in a weird pocket of light for a photo.

A few things about me
I’m named after the tall ship Elissa in Galveston, but I pronounce my name Uh-lees-uh. I’m always chasing the same high I got when the Scholastic book fair came to my elementary school. My favorite gift when I was a kid was not a Barbie (though that was great too), but a glass music box with a rotating unicorn. I like Pilates. I aspire to have Sandra Bullock as Sally Owens’s hair one day.
