During Rebecca and Daniel’s wedding ceremony, under the gold foliage and enveloping chuppah, their rabbi said, “As you know, Rebecca and Daniel didn’t need to have this wedding. They were married in New York. But this community — you who are their family, you who are their friends — are so important to them. I’m so glad that you could be here to celebrate with them.”
The couple held their wedding here, a midpoint for family to congregate between Monterrey and New York, and Rebecca’s hometown. They called this their “boda numero dos” and hosted one of the craziest parties I’ve seen so far. A Jew-ish ceremony, with Rebecca circling Daniel, then Daniel circling Rebecca; a beautiful ketubah; Mexican snacks brought out after midnight by Daniel’s family; a wedding jumpsuit (no, seriously); Grupo Fantasma rocking the night away; Pink Avocado serving platters of steak, and Bird Dog Wedding overseeing it all… We partied until 3am and sent the couple off down the street amidst sparklers and downtown Austin revelers who hollered their congratulations.
It’s not a monster post, but it’s pretty close. Here are a few of my favorites from Rebecca and Daniel’s boda numero dos.
