To say that I had been waiting eagerly for Emily and Bill’s wedding is a drastic understatement. From the first moment Emily contacted me about photographing her wedding, I knew it was going to be amazing. And from our first conversation, when she mentioned that she and Bill really wanted their puggle Bueller to be a part of the wedding, that they met because he overheard her talking about Firefly in a coffee shop and had to introduce himself, that she’s a graphic designer and valued beautiful photos of their wedding — I did a little dance and hoped she would like me as much as I liked her!
Because: awesome dog — Whedon — and artistically inclined? We should be best friends. Add in the fact that she found me through Offbeat Bride — you know we’d get along great!
Over time, Emily and I became Twitter and Facebook friends. When the A Practical Wedding book came out, she bought a copy on Book Buy Day and let me give away the gift copy I’d set aside for her.
Emily and Bill’s wedding was wonderful. Despite the downpour of rain that deluged central Texas that weekend, the storms stopped just long enough for us to take a few bride & groom photos outside at Lutherhill Ministries — hurray! The evening was spent with friends and family enjoying Pokejo’s BBQ, all of the amazing handmade cupcakes that Emily baked herself, and a rare dance between the couple.
Thank you so much for having me there, you two! Best wishes for the future :)
