This past weekend was our anniversary weekend, and we didn’t do anything too special. Last year, for our one-year anniversary, we went to Fredericksburg and stayed at a bed-and-breakfast, but this year we wanted to save our money and use it for something really awesome.

Since our wedding day I’ve continued to follow our photographer’s work, as she’s gone from wonderful to stunningly amazing. So I am absolutely thrilled that we have planned a 2-year anniversary session with Nessa K! It won’t happen until November since our October schedules are so busy, but the session will be the day before my 27th birthday so I’m just combining it in my mind as a big birthday blowout — a new dress, fantastic photographer, and beautiful photos!

But! Because our session with Nessa isn’t until mid-November, this weekend was very low-key. After months of drought, a heavy storm released buckets of rain on Austin and postponed an engagement session I had scheduled. We cleaned the entire apartment from top to bottom, even scrubbing away the weird junk that gets lodged between the tile and the sink in the bathroom. He hates to shop but he needed new clothes, so we went out and bought him new jeans and corduroys. We cleaned out our closet and donated bags of old clothes to Goodwill. We did various other chores like laundry, organizing the closet, and cooking a big pot of soup because it’s getting a little bit chillier. And then we watched old episodes of “The Office” together while eating peanut-butter sandwiches.

On our anniversary night, we went to see the new Ryan Gosling movie, Drive, at our favorite theater, the Alamo Drafthouse. That movie was intense. I stopped breathing a few times. Walt called it “phenomenal”; I thought it was very good, but probably not the best choice for an anniversary date. :) A little bit violent.

We’ve been running around like crazy lately without nearly enough time for each other — we seem to be on different schedules, and sometimes it’s really hard to coordinate time to just sit down and talk to one another. So this weekend was really nice and a breath of fresh air.
